Yoga Nidra WorkshopThe Meditative Heart of Yoga
Friday, Sept 24th
Time: 6:30-7:45 PM
Workshop Fee $15.00
Maximum of 12 students
Description:
One of the most enjoyable parts of a yoga class comes when we rest in savasana—the "corpse" pose—and realize deep serenity, a sense of effortless joy, and a glimpse into our true nature as unqualified presence. How is this so? Master teacher Richard Miller explains that this experience is a manifestation of yoga nidra, the meditative state of mind-body union at the heart of all yoga practice.
Written by Richard Miller, Mimi will guide you through this practice, and students will experience:
•Deep relaxation for relief from day-to-day stress
•The development of "one-pointedness"—a key to spiritual awakening
•Healing from painful emotions, such as fear, grief, and anger
•More effective and energizing sleep, and much more
Suitable for both beginners and advanced practitioners
Yoga Nidra is a state of conscious deep sleep, deeper than meditation. In meditation, you remain in the waking state of consciousness, gently focusing on the mind, while allowing patterns, emotions, sensations and images arise and go on. However in Yoga Nidra, you leave the waking state, go past the dreaming state, and go to deep sleep yet remaining awake.
You are awake, you are aware and you welcome every perception as a messenger that guides you to your true authentic self of being.
Yoga Nidra begins to bring incredible calmness, quietness and clarity. Yoga Nidra is one of the deepest of all meditations, leading awareness through many levels of mental process to a state of supreme stillness and insight.
Must be Pre-Paid and Pre-Registered by September 17th.

Restorative Yoga WorkshopSaturday, November 13, 2010
Time: 1-3:00 pm
Workshop Fee: $20.00
If you love Savasana (final relaxation), then you have not felt the best yet.
Most of us lead very busy lives and don't take time to take care of ourselves in the midst of saving the rest of the world. Now find time for YOU! Restorative Yoga is one of the best things you can do to refresh, rejuvenate and renew your mind, body and spirit.
We'll be using lots of props, blocks, blankets, bolsters, eye pillows, sandbags, walls and more to find our bodies and minds in "active relaxation." Melt the stress away by supporting the body with props, we alternately stimulate and relax the body to move toward balance. Some poses have an overall benefit. Others target an individual part, such as the lungs or heart. All create specific physiological responses which are beneficial to health and can reduce the effects of stress-related disease.
In general, restorative poses are for those times when you feel weak, fatigued, or stressed from your daily activities. Mimi loves to practice these to restore and find balance. They are especially beneficial for the times before, during, and after major life events: death of a loved one, change of job or residence, marriage, divorce, major holidays, and every day stress. It is amazing what these poses can do. (Mimi refers to these as "yummy".)
Must be Pre-Paid and Pre-Registered by November 6th.
